Beatrice Godfrey, 87, passed away on January 30, 2010 while in the hospital receiving treatment for cancer. She was predeceased by her husband, Marvin, her parents, Oscar and Bertha Talcott, six sisters and their spouses, her seven year old brother and her grandson, Daniel LaPlante. Beatrice is survived by her son, Lamont (Paula) Godfrey of Dresden, TN and her daughter, Carole (Richard) LaPlante, Tioga Center, NY. Beatrice is survived by many grandchildren and nieces and nephews. She was born on February 2, 1922 in Quaker Bridge, NY and was often picked on about being a groundhog. She spent many hours working on the family farm on Niger Hollow Rd. in Tioga Center, cooking, and sewing clothes for her children. Beatrice grew up in Richford and attended the one-room school which gave her many fond memories. A time of remembrance will be held in the spring at the Tioga Cemetery, Rt. 17c West, Owego, NY, where her ashes will be laid to rest next to her husband Marvin.
